Eating Smart for a Healthy Heart

February is Heart Month and we know that the heart and cardiovascular system, like other organ systems of the body, can be affected by lupus. Heart disease and stroke are typically associated with risk factors like advancing age, smoking, gender and high blood pressure. However, these factors do not fully explain the increased risk of heart disease and stroke for people with lupus. In fact, research has shown that having lupus, and undergoing treatment can, in itself, be a substantial risk factor for cardiovascular disease. You are not powerless though! One positive lifestyle change you can make to reduce your risk is to eat smart for a healthy heart. Join us and learn more about eating wisely!
