David Chen has been an angel investor for much of his career focused on investments in robotics, AI, mobile, and other Internet businesses. He founded and established one of the first and largest angel groups focusing on investments in cross-border entrepreneurial businesses in Greater China and globally, and was the Founding Director of the AngelVest Fund LP, which invested in more than 25 deals globally with focus on technology and innovation. His current projects include a focus on conscious entrepreneurship with the goal to support founders on their mission to make positive change in the world.

Previously, David was an investment banking and corporate development professional, with experience at US- and Asia-based institutions including Salomon Brothers and Advanced Micro Devices (“AMD”). Notably, he led the M&A process for Cirrus Logic’s (Nasdaq: CRUS) acquisition of Caretta IC, and for SkyCross’ acquisition of Shanghai Universe Communications. He also has a product development background of automotive electrical systems at Honda R&D in Tochigi, Japan and California, where he led the development of GPS-based navigation systems for the US market.

Rebecca A. Fannin is an author, speaker and media entrepreneur known for for trend-spotting tech innovation and startup ecosystems. She is the founder of Silicon Dragon Ventures, an events and content group that publishes a newsletter and produces the online AskAVC show. At CNBC online, she is a special contributor on global tech trends and the Disruptor 50. Her work has led to public speaking at Brookings, Harvard, Carnegie Mellon, Oxford and many tech festivals including SXSW, and appearances on CNBC’s Squawk Box, BBC, CNN, and Bloomberg. Additionally, she is a venture scout at Alumni Ventures.Her four books covering global innovation trends by region - Silicon Dragon (2008), Startup Asia (2011), Tech Titans of China (2019) and Silicon Heartland (2023) - have been translated in 10 languages, and she co-authored a textbook, Innovation in Emerging Markets (2016). Formative years of career include at Red Herring and the Asian Venture Capital Journal, where she was an international editor and became one of the first American journalists covering China’s entrepreneurial boom.
