Event description

Description

The ASID Texas Chapter Dallas and Fort Worth Design Communities invites Emerging* Interior Designers to their February Peer Group event sponsored by ASID Industry Partner Sherwin-Williams. Emerging Designers will be treated to an An Evening of Conversation with John Phifer Marrs, ASID at his private residence (exact address will be provided after registration).

John Phifer Marrs’s interiors reflect his southern roots and combine a sense of the past with comfort and convenience. Funny and irreverent, with a "Saturday Night Live" sense of humor, John has been very busy entertaining his A-list clients and creating magical interiors in Texas, across the the United States and in Europe and Central America. His projects include major residences, vacation homes, executive offices and even the official residence of a United States Ambassador.

John's many leadership roles include past Texas Chapter President of ASID and past Chairman of the ASID Dallas Association. After two terms on their Professional Advisory Board, John currently services on the Capital Campaign Committee for the Fay Jones School of Architecture. John is one of the few North Texas designers to be named a D Home Best Designer for 16 years running.

John’s work has been regularly featured in local and national publications including D Home, Traditional Home and the venerable Architectural Digest. In his soon to be launched Chairish Shop, John will offer an assortment of signature items, including Etruscan and Chinoiserie transferware, faux bois pitchers, ink and paper silhouettes, and fine and decorative antiques. He is currently writing his forthcoming book: "John Phifer Marrs / The Joy of Collecting / Interiors for Collectors."

Organizer Dallas Design Community of the ASID Texas Chapter

Organizer of ASID TX Dallas DC February Emerging Designers Event

The Dallas Design Community is one of six design communities that make up the ASID Texas Chapter, which is part of the larger American Society of Interior Designers [ASID], a community of people – designers, industry representatives, educators and students – committed to interior design. Through education, knowledge sharing and advocacy, the Society strives to advance the interior design profession and, in the process, to demonstrate and celebrate the power of design to positively impact and change people’s lives. Of the Society’s 24,000 Practitioners, 20% practice Residential design, 30% practice Commercial design, and 50% practice both.

The ASID Texas Chapter represents 1,700+ Practitioner, Educator, Student and Industry Representative members throughout the state of Texas excluding the greater Houston area, which is covered by the ASID Texas Gulf Coast Chapter. Since the Texas Chapter is quite large both in membership and in geographic expanse, most of the programming throughout the year takes place in the Design CommunitiesAustin, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, San Antonio and West Texas.

Our members work in both the residential and commercial fields, either as sole proprietors or as part of small or large firms. Within the state and around the world, they provide valuable services and useful products to their clients. Our members strive to improve the quality of life for all of their clients through the creation of aesthetically pleasing, thoughtful design that takes into account the health, safety and welfare of the public.
