International Belly Dance instructor Ashley Lopez is back in Colorado to teach 14 hrs of dance technique, cross training, and flexibility!

About this Event

It's been too long, so we are bringing her back! Ashley is back in Colorado for 14 hours of workshops ranging from belly dance technique, cross-training for dancers, and dancer focused flexibility workshops! All workshops come with a dash of humor and hilarity that makes us love her so, as well as her expertise not only in dance, but fitness and injury prevention and training.

Saturday 10 AM - 12 PM

Flexibility Intensive Spotlight: Upper Back and Shoulders


All-Levels/ Flexibility


This workshop is a 2 hour spotlight focusing exclusively on the upper back and shoulders taken from Ashley’s Flexibility Intensive. The Flexibility Intensive focuses entirely on cross-training through intelligent exercise and psychological strategies. Ashley has hand-picked some of the most effective cutting-edge training techniques which are derived from a blend of influences such as yoga, Pilates, rehabilitative exercise, physical therapy, classic fitness and circus to maximize our time as movers to maintain and improve our bodies for optimal functionality, injury prevention and artistic ability.

Saturday 1 PM - 4 PM

Unlocking the Upper Body

All-Levels/Bellydance

Let’s dive deep into developing graceful, controlled, clean movement in the arms and upper body. Do you struggle with crazy hand or tense shoulders? Want to increase the size and smoothness of chest circles and figure-eights? Got a craving for faster, sharper locks but can’t seem to get them to look effortless? Here’s your chance to drill and perfect your upper body movement technique using some of Ashley’s favorite efficiency exercises and technical combos.

Layer ‘Till Yer Brain Falls Off 

Intermediate-Advanced/Bellydance

Not for the faint of heart, this workshop was created for you movement nerds out there. Let’s get smarter in our bodies, challenging our brains to keep up with some serious multi-tasking layers and intelligent anatomical application so we can train ourselves to do pointlessly difficult things...just ‘cause we want to. Circles on 8’s? Polyrhythms? Multiple speeds? Footwork, arms, undulations, shimmies? We can do it all. At the same time. And when we can’t, we’ll just laugh at ourselves.

What The Shimmy Was That!?

All-Levels/Bellydance

A classic topic, and one that never tires me ...the shimmy. This workshop will prepare your body to produce big, beautiful, relaxed and powerful shimmies of all kinds. We will discuss the anatomical nature of the shimmy and how to cross-train for maximum endurance, clarity and strength. We will then work with various speeds, sizes and dynamics for shimmies, and then move on to layers, musical timing and traveling steps. You’ll leave class with an arsenal of limitless shimmy possibilities.

This Body Can Talk

All-Levels/All Styles

As artists, our instrument is our body. We invest careful attention to our instrument through physical exercise and dance technique training...but in order to speak to our audience we must learn to communicate through our presence and our movement. This workshop was designed for dancers who wish to deepen their understanding of conversation between performer and audience. Movers will be taken through mental, emotional, and physical exercises to enhance their ability to marry meaning, character and emotion with physical movement. There is no technical skill level required for this class. Just come with whatever you have to work with; and with an open heart and willingness to take risks.

There is a parking lot in the front and back of the studio as well as ample parking in the shopping plaza across the street.
