Description

A town hall will be hosted in Ashland WI, on November 14, 2018. It will focus on pipeline response plan collaboration, meeting local TransCanada representatives, sharing how they will handle an incident and their expectations of the local community.

Following the town hall, TransCanada and the IAFC will work to establish preplans with local fire departments and return to lead a joint tabletop exercise and improve response collaboration.

Each town hall is a 4-hour course is for first responders, emergency management and neighboring mutual-aid partners with response responsibility for pipeline emergencies. The training will facilitate an open dialogue on the priorities for responding to a pipeline emergency.

  • Understanding how to access information on the National Pipeline Mapping System (NPMS)
  • Discussing first responder priorities (via a pre-plan response checklist)
  • Understanding what products move through your jurisdiction and how to be prepared to respond
  • Learning how to:
    • Complete a pipeline scene size-up
    • Engage with the operator's control center
    • Interact with the operator's staff and contractors
  • Two hours of training credits toward your yearly hazardous material training requirement through IAFC Academy

This Pipeline Emergency Preparedness Training course is offered by the IAFC and TransCanada.
