Event description

Description

Many times parents are hesitant to send their children with special needs to camp with their mainstream peers as part of a large group. The “ASH Summer Camp” at YMCA’s Camp Erdman will allow kids to experience “camp” in a small group environment with supportive staff. This is open to students entering grades 6-12. They will be broken into 2 groups on site (6th-8th grades and 9th-12th grades). The cost is $100 per person (20% off!) for two-nights of lodging, six meals and 9 hours of programming. Parents are welcome to attend and observe/assist for $65. A minimum of 8 children are required to hold the event, maximum 24. This is open to students entering grades 6-12. They will be broken into 2 groups on site (6th-8th grades and 9th-12th grades). The ratio will typically be 1:3 or 1:5 depending on the activity. There will be a previous DOE/DDD skills trainer (female) on site to assist the group as needed. See the attached flyer for more information about Camp Erdman. Dietary accommodations can be made. The following is an example of activities the children will participate in. If children do not want to or cannot participate they have the option of staying back at the cabin with an adult.
