2 Days a Week

This is a Saturday and Sunday training program that begins 12/05/08 and ends 03/29/09. The program includes 2 days a week of training at Mission Ridge, coaching, and race support at the Apple Invite (Mission Ridge), Club Slalom (Mission Ridge), Wolf Chase Race (Loup Loup), Buddy Werner Championships (Mt. Spokane), and the Bantam Cup (White Pass). Holiday camp training is also included in the program and is December 29th to the 31st. The price of this program is: $1,140.

Volunteer Requirements

MRSEF tuitions cover only about 32% of our 2008/2009 program costs.

In order to ensure the continued success of our athletes and programs each family is expected to help with our fundraising and events.  For the 2008/2009 season each family is required to provide 4 days of support at MRSEF hosted races, and one day of support with our fundraising events.  This year’s opportunities include:

Fund Raisers: Dinner Auction, Corey Mc Dougall Golf Tournament, Ski-Snowboard Swap.

Races:  Apple Cup, Hampton Cup, Northwest Cup Finals

As part of the registration process you will required to pay a $300.00 refundable Volunteer Deposit, which is refundable at year’s end if the volunteer requirements have been met in full.

Volunteer FAQ’s

Our family has more than one Athlete on the MRST Ski Team, do we have a volunteer commitment for each Athlete?

No, the requirement is per family regardless of number of athletes a family has in the program.

After I complete my hours, when to do I get my refund?

Refunds will be made in April after the Northwest Cup Finals.   The Registration tools allow you to select your events up front and if you sign up for the Golf Tournament we can track your participation for this event which occurs later in the Spring.

I’ve completed my hours, can I donate the $300.00 deposit?

Yes, we greatly appreciate donations, and your donated $300.00 deposit is tax deductible if you’ve completed your hours.

Why Race Days vs. Races this year?

There was some confusion last year as to the meaning of “Races” (whether it was days or weekends), so we have tried to clarify this.

Our 2008/2009 race schedule includes 7 days of actual races, plus a minimum of 3 additional days of set up and preparation.  We appreciate that for some, volunteering time on a weekday for set up works better than doing all your support days on the day of the race so if you decide to help on set up days, these counts towards your commitment.

Last year we helped with Special Olympics. Will helping with Special Olympics this year count towards my volunteer time?

Special Olympics is about giving back to the community, so while we are grateful for your continued support with this event it does not count towards your volunteer commitment.

I’d like to become an USSA Official, does the training class time count towards my race support commitment?

Yes, We strongly encourage parents to obtain their USSA Officials cards and attend the individual classes offered.  Having a strong team of parent race officials is critical to our ability to host races.  Folks who are interested in becoming USSA Officials should contact Ryan Shorter or Barry Wise.

How do you track my participation?

The registration tool will be the primary method to sign up for events at the start of the year.  This will allow you to select your events in advance.  The lists from registration are then sent to the event Project Managers or in the case of our races, the Chief of Race.   The Project Managers or Chief of Race will then add additional names as volunteers come forward.   At the end of the events the final volunteer lists will be collected by the MRSEF Board and consolidated to match actual days spent against what you signed up for.  The important thing to remember if you are helping with an event we need to know so we can get your name on the list.
