About this event

WHO WE ARE:

The Alpha Scholarship & Charitable Foundation (ASCF) aims to completely fund the acknowledgement and recognition of African American and minority students throughout the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) system. Through our annual Black Youth Achievement Awards (BYAA) program, we recognize the academic, athletic, and service excellence of MCPS students. In addition to our BYAA recognition program, we strive to stimulate personal achievement and enhance leadership skills via our Leadership Development Institute (LDI). Our LDI program further enables students to comprehend and apply fundamental leadership skills and principles such as, conflict resolution, models of leadership, public speaking, community and civic engagement, and educational enhancement skills. The recognition gained from our programs helps motivate students to maintain a level excellence and exceed their level of success in their current and future educational environments.

The ASCF Annual Educational Research and Practice Conference aims to advance knowledge about education, to encourage scholarly inquiry related to education, and to promote the use of empirical research to improve education and serve the public good.
