Topic: Challenges of Waste Flow Reduction
Speaker: John Eastman, Ph. D., P.E., Senior Environmental Engineer
This presentation takes the audience through the ups and downs of meeting the operational and policy challenges faced when the Appleton Papers West Carrollton Mill (now Appvion) modified its production resulting in a 95% reduction in waste flow. Wastewater characteristics also changed dramatically. Teamwork, cooperation with multiple agencies and willingness to keep moving with partial knowledge were key factors in the project’s success.
Dr. Eastman is an environmental engineer with LJB Inc. who has 35 years of experience. He specializes in water and wastewater infrastructure and facilities. He has a doctorate and master's degree in environmental engineering and a bachelor's degree in engineering science.
