Repertoire will include World Premieres of 10 Commissions by recent ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award winners Daniel Allas, Trevor Bumgarner, Therese Marie Chaix, Ryan Chase, Max Grafe, David Mettens, Ali Can Puskulcu, Daniel Schlosberg, Andrew Stock, and Shen Yiwen. This Award honors the late Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and former ASCAP Foundation President Morton Gould’s lifelong commitment to encouraging young creators. Open to composers of original, classical concert music, it encourages developing music creators during the earliest stages of their careers. Founded in 1988 by conductor Harold Rosenbaum, The New York Virtuoso Singers has become the country's leading exponent of contemporary choral music. Although the chorus performs music of all periods, its emphasis is on commissioning, performing and recording the music of American composers. The choir appears on over 40 commercial CDs, including releases on Bridge, Albany and Kasp.
