Asbury Agile is a friendly, informal, single-track conference for technology professionals & students held annually in Asbury Park, NJ.This year's event is at the brand new The Asbury hotel on Friday, October 7th, 2016.
Asbury Agile is less about agile methodology and more about being an agile, well rounded, nimble professional. Topics range across disciplines and the intimate event allows for open and informal discussions.
Jonnie Hallman - Founder, Cushion
Jonnie Hallman is a freelance web designer/dev based in Brooklyn, NY. He earns a living building fancy scrolly websites for clients including Casper, Dropbox, Etsy, and FiftyThree. Jonnie also runs Cushion, a forecasting web app for freelancers. In his spare time, Jonnie enjoys writing about his process, drinking coffee, and going on sock sprees.
John Henry - Entrepreneur & VC, Cofound Harlem & AREA
John Henry started his first company at 19, an on-demand laundry-tech startup. Henry successfully sold the company within two years and went on to found Cofound Harlem - a social impact accelerator. Now he's spearheading AREA, investing in real estate technology startups. He is also the host of Open For Business.
Lisa Luo - Mobile Engineer, Kickstarter
Lisa started at Kickstarter as a back-end rails intern, then joined full time as their second android engineer after finishing school. She helped bring android 1.0 into this world, picked up iOS, and has since been working in both platforms. Lisa currently lives in Brooklyn, where she documents her life via sardonic cartoons.
Jonny McLaughlin - Director of Engineering, GIPHY
Jonny McLaughlin is a Director of Engineering at GIPHY, where he focuses on animation and making things fun to interact with. He has worked in the video game industry, advertising industry, and was awarded 2014's "Creator of the Year" during his time at Tumblr. You can see his work featured on WIRED, TechCrunch, Mashable, Engadget and Business Insider. He likes cats, dogs, and sandwiches. He does NOT like wind, ferrets, or when dog ears do that thing where they flip inside-out.
Mona Soni - Director of Technology, Dow Jones / The Wall Street Journal
Mona is an engineering leader, a quality champion, organizer of Selenium meetup, an avid blogger and a budding artist. She is a results oriented leader with extensive experience in building teams, establishing processes and delivering high-end quality software. In her 11+ years of career she has implemented and helped teams achieve outstanding results through test engineering culture, adapting best practices across teams and roles. She has worn various hats in her career and currently is the Director of Technology at Dow Jones.
She is an active leader in New York open source community, she has led the NYCSelenium meetup for around 3 years which is now a strong 1350+ members group and also helps people to adapt new technologies.
Cap Watkins -VP of Design, Buzzfeed
Cap Watkins is a product designer living and working in Brooklyn. He is currently the VP of Design at BuzzFeed, as well as a blogger, podcast guest, conference speaker, and lover of start-ups and technology. Cap believes in thoughtful, holistic design solutions that get out of the way and empower people to accomplish more. His past work includes Etsy, Zoosk, Formspring, and hush-hush stuff at Amazon.
The Asbury Hotel
Each year we try to mix things up by featuring a different venue in Asbury Park. This year we're amped to call the new The Asbury hotel our home for Asbury Agile.
