About this event

ASAE Idea Swap (CAE Ethics Credit)

Tune in as we hear from Rhea M. Steele, CAE, ODCP Chief of Staff, School Nutrition Association- “What were you Thinking? Ethics in Association Management”

An ethical decision can arise at any time in the most unlikely situation. How do you recognize when a decision is ethics-based? What do you do once you realize that's the decision you are making? How do you talk with those around you about it?

In this session we'll use a series of scenarios to talk about how to recognize an ethical issue, understand how to apply ASAE's Ethical Decision Making Model in your organization, and work through the ethical issues in the workplace.

We'll also touch on the elements needed to ensure your association fosters ethical decision-making practices.

Session Takeaways:

  • An ethical decision-making framework you can use day-to-day
  • Practice thinking through an ethical quandary
  • Concrete tactics for fostering ethical decision making in your organization

Scenarios Discussed:

  • Budgeting for conference booths and reporting to the board when the numbers aren’t where they are supposed to be
  • Something in a new hire’s history coming up after they are offered the position that they didn’t disclose
