Event description

Description

Mother Doe includes three physical theatre performances and three dance workshops in a North York park over the course of 2 days on September 14-15 2019. Performance will be created based on a “Mother Doe” folk tale derived through community-based research that we conducted in the Russian speaking community of North York. Workshops will teach general public fusion of contemporary dance and traditional dance steps from Russia and Central Asia used in the performance.

A magical tale of Mother Doe saving a human child from the horrors of war and their quest to find new home in a promised land near the lake Issyk-Kul. A dance and physical theatre adaptation of a Central Asian myth, Mother Doe features breathtaking choreography, original music and powerful acting. Come early to participate in dance workshop with the artists. Suitable for all ages, free and open to public.
