Join ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station for a special Creative Conversation event featuring Benito Bautista Executive Director and Co-Founder of San Diego Filipino Cinema. Linda Caballero Sotelo, Executive Director at New Americans Museum will join the panel discussion focusing on issues of non-profit programming during a pandemic, discoveries of present stories and issues for filming, future collaborative projects in ARTS DISTRICT and also in stories in film and many more. Tune in for an intimate discussion with local creatives or get interactive and ask about their work or how you can make an impact.

Benito Bautista is an award-winning Filipino filmmaker based in San Diego, California. His passion is to tell underrepresented global stories through the medium of film. Benito believes in the power of cinema to entertain, inspire and incubate creative and critical thinking, and instill pride of heritage.

Two of his feature documentaries, The Gift of Barong: a Journey from Within and HARANA: the Search for the Lost Art of Serenade, have screened on PBS and garnered awards from prestigious film festivals such as the Busan International Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Hawaii International Film Festival, San Diego Asian Film Festival, and CAAMFest.

Linda Caballero Sotelo is the Executive Director of the New Americans Museum. A first generation immigrant born and raised in Tijuana, Mexico, Caballero Sotelo is deeply committed to the advancement of immigrants of all backgrounds, believing in the power of civic engagement as a catalyst for the integration, inclusion and celebration of immigrant contributions into the American experience.

The Panel discussion will be moderated by Andrew Waltz, NTC Foundation Director of Programs. NTC Foundation was established to renovate 26 historic buildings at the former Naval Training Center into a significant new flagship destination for arts, culture, and creativity. Now a burgeoning hub for life and culture, ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station is a unique location filled with nearly 145 galleries, museums, artists, music groups, dance companies, makers, creators, and distinctive dining experiences.
