Event description
San Mateo County Office of Education (SMCOE) is hosting the rebranded Arts Institute, "Arts as LIFE!" on Wednesday, February 2, 2022!

About this event

Please save the date for San Mateo County Office of Education's Annual Art Institute - rebranded as Arts as Life! on 2.2.22

This virtual day-long PD will be rich with opportunities to practice creativity and its connections to equity & inclusion and social & emotional learning.

This institute is open to all teachers, administration, staff, counselors K-12, and is co-produced in partnership with Santa Clara County Office of Education, Alameda County Office of Education, Stanford Live, Young Audiences of Northern California, KQED, and the San Mateo County Arts Commission Office of Arts and Culture. This day-long immersive experience will include many dynamic presenters, a rockstar line-up for the keynote, a special panel on Student Voice, AND MORE!

The workshops will highlight key tops for student engagement including all 5 arts disciplines, diversity, equity & inclusion, SEL, and trauma-informed practices.

We are so excited to bring teachers a new model of professional development that includes your students. What? Include my students? In these times of a global pandemic, we recognize that finding a substitute teacher is almost impossible, and one of the main themes of the conference is “Student Voice,” so why not invite students? The workshop presenters are all skilled in leading experiential PDs that model how one would teach to students and what better way than to try it out with them there? So sign up! Invite your colleagues! And bring your class!

For more details, email SMCOE's Arts & Restorative Learning Coordinator, Michelle Holdt: mholdt@smcoe.org.

Please register if you plan to attend!
