About this event
The fabled Red Barn at Phil’s Berry Farm in Redland plays host to an evening of debate, poetry, dance, music, and theatre with a two-part tribute to the work and philosophy of Miami Dade County’s first Artist-in-Residence Xavier Cortada.
Part I: Public Forum: ethics, advocacy-art, and practice exploring the value and purpose of art in a constantly evolving digital age. Featuring celebrated choreographer, Dale Andree and local visual art activist the debate will be moderated by Bianca Sproul
Part II Performance: an immersive journey through the life of Artist X as actors channel the spirit and philosophy of advocate-artist Xavier Cortada whose work intersects art, environmental science, and social justice. Cortada’s work hangs adorns countless buildings including the White House, CERN, and the World Bank.
Conceived and directed by Phillip M Church, this production promises to take its audience beyond the conversation demonstrating the beauty and power of art while underscoring the urgency for collective action as a way of finding meaningful solutions.
