Workshops for emerging artists based as part of 'Scaffold' at The Bomb Factory


Artist Workshop with Kate Fahey

2-4pm

Kate will present an object / text / image, which has been key in the development of a recent work. Participants will be invited to do the same, followed by an open discussion around research, ideas and how we work through these ‘agents' to influence our practice.

Artist Peer Support Workshop

4-6 pm

'Scaffold' exhibition curator Séamus McCormack will lead an artist-led workshop on ways of discussing and supporting practice. This workshop will include group workshops and 1on1 discussions


It is advised that partcipants attend both workshops.



Workshop Leaders’ Bios:

Séamus McCormack is a curator based in London. Curated projects include: Rain Wetting Thirst, Lewisham Arthouse (2019); Jealous Wall, Luan Gallery, Athlone (2018); ‘SausageFest’ (2017), ArtBox, Dublin; ‘Traces’, IMMA, Dublin (2014); ‘Roadkill’, IMMA, Dublin (2016) and was co-curator of both Mobile Encounters and Primal Architecture, IMMA, Dublin. He currently works with New Contemporaries and was previously Assistant Curator at Whitechapel Gallery, London, and the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin. He has written on the work of a wide range of artists, including Haroon Mirza, Leonora Carrington, Wolfgang Tillmans, Paul Sharits, Jonas Lund, Ulla Wiggen, Christopher Williams, Janine Davidson, Elaine Leader and Jennifer Brady. Séamus has led artists’ workshops and 1on1 sessions at the RHA Dublin, Leeds Art Gallery, South London Gallery, Visual Artists Ireland and the Irish Museum of Modern Art, BALTIC Newcastle. Has been a visiting lecturer at Leeds Beckett University, DIT, Slade London and Oxford Brookes University. He has trained as an Art Teacher and a Peer Support Worker for a London based LGBTI+ Charity.

Kate Fahey is a London-based Irish artist and researcher. Previous exhibitions include ‘Fuzzy Logic’, Leitrim Sculpture Centre (2018); ‘Dark Adaptation’, Guest Projects, London (2017); and ‘Bloomberg New Contemporaries’, ICA London, (2016). Recent residencies include ZK/U, Centre for Art and Urbanistics, Berlin (2019); Leitrim Sculpture Centre (2018); British School at Rome (2017); & Callan Workhouse Union (2016). She is a graduate of the Royal College of Art and currently an AHRC TECHNE-funded PhD candidate at the University of the Arts, London. She has taught and delivered workshops at various institutions including Kingston School of Art, Arts University Bournemouth and Manchester School of Art.
