Confluence explores the potential for abstraction to meaningfully engage memory. The fluidity of surfaces interrelates with imperfections of recollection . A processed-based practice on aluminum honeycomb panels, the exploratory process of building layers and deconstructing them through sanding and scraping emerges as an integral component of the work.
Francie Hester has exhibited her work nationally and internationally. She received her MFA in painting from the University of Maryland College Park, and a BFA in painting from the University of Michigan. Hester lives and works in Silver Spring, MD and Boulder, CO, and is represented by Susan Eley Fine in New York City and Hudson, NY.
