Artist Talk + Write: Meet the Women of the Rivers Exhibition

About this event

Join us for an intimate look at the RIVERS Exhibition, featuring curator Mallory O'Connor and many of the outstanding women artists of this show. We'll view all the art in the show , talk to the artists and the curator, and do some exploratory writing about your experience—all via the Zoom platform, making this program as accessible as possible to all.

You'll hear from a diverse selection of our artists as we explore the depths of the river theme, watching two videos: one on the acclaimed Gainesville folk artist Alyne Harris, and the other on the mysterious Sirena, an underwater creature who asks us to consider the true incongruities of our relationship with river. Sirena is the creation of another well-known Gainesville artist, Margaret Ross Tolbert. We’ll also hear from two shining lights on the Jacksonville scene, Cheryl McCain and Tatiana Kitchen, as well as many other artists from this show. Breakout groups will allow you to interact more personally with all the artists in the show, helping us to build community connections and a deeper relationship with each other.

A full list of the artists includes:

  • Mary Atwood, Elizabeth Barakah Hodges, Emilie Candela, Bronwen Chandler, Kim Guzzone Collier, Cheryl Cummer Toni DeWitt, Laura Dill, Nick Dunkenstein, LuAnn Dunkinson, Annelies Dykgraaf, Cynthia Edmonds, Penny Edwards, Barbara Gibbs, Anne Gilroy, Marsha Glazière, Pamela Griesinger, Alyne Harris, Hannah Keats, Tatiana Kitchen, Dima Kroma, Krista Lee Weller, Mary McAllister, Candace McCaffery, Cheryl McCain, Aisling McDonald, Sydney McKenna, Abby Howard, Murphy, Mallory O’Connor, Mimi Pearce, Leslie Peebles, Joanna Ring, Kendal Schmidt, Rachael Sharpe, Lori Ann Sweet, Margaret Ross Tolbert, Allison Watson, Megan Welch, and Velour.
