ARTIST STUDIO TOUR - BROOKLAND

Catch the museum shuttle for this popular program and visit community artists in their homes and studios. This month the tour includes a visit to the studio of Marta Staudinger (painter) and a visit to the American Poetry Museum to meet artist Wilfredo Valladares. SCHEDULE:

  • 10:40-11:10 Arrive to the Brookland Arts Walk & Visit Latela Curatorial: featuring current exhibition 'Spiritual Wanderlust' + artist Marta Staudinger

  • 11:15-11:55 Visit American Poetry Museum - Meet visual artist Wilfredo Valladares who will give the history of the museum, introduce works on display and talk about the art of the spoken word.

  • 12:00-12:40 Meet portrait artist Patrick Smith and experience a live 30-minute celebrity painting in perfect detail

  • 12:45-1:45 Lunch on your own

  • 1:50 Board bus

  • 2:05-2:50 Arrive at Art Enables. Participate in a facilitated collage-making activity

  • 2:55 Board bus

  • 3:20 Arrive at Fort Stanton

Tickets: Free to Register on Eventbrite but a $15 pre-registration transportation fee required. You can pay the transportation fee online, or by check (payable to the Anacostia Community Museum). If paying online, click here. Your registration is not finalized until you pay for your seat.

NOTE: Due to construction at the museum, the shuttle will be parked in front of the Fort Stanton Recreation Center, at 1812 Erie Street SE and return passengers to the same place when the tour is over. Parking of personal vehicles will not be allowed in the museum parking lot. Parking is available in the rear of the recreation center or on the street where available.
