Artist Mixer: Gallery Visit at ICA SF

Expand your engagement with art and fuel your creative practice by joining fellow ArtSpan Artists at the Institute of Contemporary Art San Francisco (ICA SF). Experience three different exhibitions that push the conceptual boundaries regarding our planet, femme-noir leisure and hyperlocal creative networks. Inspirational worksheets will be provided to spark your imagination and to be applied to your artistic endeavors. This is our first Artist Mixer visiting a museum in-person in over 2 years!

ArtSpan Artist Mixers are social gatherings affording the opportunity to meet and spend time with fellow creatives. Each participant is invited to be present for connection while finding insightful inspiration. Interactive engagement is encouraged.

About the ICA SF: The Institute of Contemporary Art San Francisco officially opened in October 2022. This non-collecting contemporary art museum is dedicated to experimenting in public, operating transparently, and embracing constant reinvention in the realm of contemporary art. As a new institution, the ICA SF has the unusual opportunity to start from scratch and thus aims to lead right out of the gate with some necessary art world values: prioritizing individuals over institutions, and modeling equity and expansion in the artistic.

Learning from the process of the year of starting up, the ICA SF will be a museum that’s continuously “under construction,” retaining the requisite nimbleness that comes from that condition. Through exhibitions, programming, and social opportunities, the ICA SF seeks to broaden the possibilities for civic and creative engagement within the region's vibrant ecosystem and to enable artists to push boundaries, experiment with new ideas, and take risks.

About ArtSpan Artist Mixers: ArtSpan produces Artist Mixer events throughout the year to give artists a chance to meet, mingle, and make art with each other. Past events have included studio and gallery tours, bingo games, painting, printmaking, collage and assemblage making, letterpress and bookbinding, live model figure drawing, and more!
