FUNCTION AND FORM: ARTFUL APPROACHES TO EVERYDAY LIVING

ARTIST PANEL DISCUSSION

October 3, 2019, 7 p.m.
Summit Artspace on East Market,
140 E. Market St., Akron

Aritsts in the gallery show, Form and Function, will gather for a discussion with juror Karen Starr about the functional art genre. The event is free and open to the public.

Please reserve a seat at the registration on this page. Visit the show before the panel. Doors open at noon.

Functional Art: A name given to any object that serves a utilitarian purpose beyond adding to the aesthetic of a space. This includes anything from artfully made coasters and painted lamps, to artisan-crafted tables and chairs.

Function and Form, Artful Approaches to Everyday Living, opens Sept. 13, 2019 at Summit Artspace on East Market, 140 E. Market St., Akron. The show runs until Oct. 5, 2019.

There will be an artist reception on opening night, Friday, Sept. 13, with the juror, Karen Starr, and the artists. Winners of the juried exhibition will be announced at 7 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.

This is a first-of-its-kind show for Summit Artspace. Juried pieces will possess creative, innovative approaches to the intersection of art and function featuring multiple mediums and design. Traditional artists and nontraditional artists have been encouraged to submit work.
