A monthly gathering of artists, songwriters, producers, and music industry professionals aiming to inspire, educate, and equip creatives.

About this event

The Well (Koinonia / Music Row) is committed to serving the creative community in Nashville, whether that be by providing a comfortable place to meet or work, a break from your studio session, or an ever-important stage on which to perform. With that in mind we are happy to offer the Artist Development Incubator Workshop for songwriters, artists, and industry leaders. Host John J. Thompson brings publishers, artist managers, booking agents, artists, labels, and others together to bring real-world, up-to-the-minute advice and counsel to creatives looking for answers.

Songwriters, artists, producers, managers, publicists… mark your calendars: the Artist Development Incubator Workshop returns to The Well Coffeehouse on Music Row with JJT and his special guest, attorney, author, professor, and proud music fan, Mark H. Maxwell! We’ll talk about the critical difference between “networking” and serving, the key legal issues facing artists and songwriters in today’s constantly changing creative landscape, and much more. PLUS – this is an amazing opportunity to connect with other writers, artists, and producers from around the area. Spread the word!!

Mark H. Maxwell is an amazing entertainment attorney – and a professor at Belmont – but also a huge music fan who still gets to Bonnaroo every year and collects vinyl like a teenager. He has an excellent book called “Networking (s)Kills” that explores the differences between mere networking – which is exhausting, shallow, and often self-defeating… and creative serving… which is life-giving and leads to all kinds of thriving. We’ll be talking about that and lots more. I hope you’ll join us. This is for you. 🙂

Join us as we sit and discuss with Mark Maxwell - Entertainment Attorney, Belmont Professor, and Author

Doors open at 6:15. On stage conversation starts promptly at 7pm. There will be hang-time built in both before and after the conversation.
