About the Lecture

Join Arthur Haywood, traditional painter and illustrator, for an overview of his process in creating his book, “The Great Library”. Exploring scholars from the ancient library of Alexandria in Egypt. His book covers themes from ancient mathematics to astronomy. He will discuss ways that the same galaxy they explored still captures our wonder today. The paintings from the book will be on display and books will be for sale.

About the Speaker

Arthur Haywood's work celebrates achievements and aspirations of diverse people. He illustrated and wrote a book, "The Great Library", about scholars from the ancient library of Alexandria. His work has been exhibited in New York and Pennsylvania. He also has worked on numerous murals with the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. He continues to share his positive outlook through exhibitions, illustrations and murals.

He earned a B.F.A in Illustration from The Maryland Institute College of Art, before furthering his study of classical drawing and painting at Cambridge Street Studios in Philadelphia and Grand Central Atelier in New York.

This lecture is in conjunction with the reception for the art exhibition of The Salmagundi Club Junior Scholarship Artists Exhibition
