About this event

Don’t miss the chance to experience a one-of-a-kind performance by world-renowned cellist Matt Haimovitz! Join us at the Des Moines Art Center for an interactive music and art program that will surely be a musical feast for the senses. Matt Haimovitz will present a curated performance in three locations at the Des Moines Art Center with music that connects with specific varied art pieces.

With a career spanning over 30 years, Matt has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, collaborated with various musicians, and produced award-winning recordings. He’s been praised by the New York Times as a “ferociously talented cellist” and by The New Yorker as a “remarkable virtuoso.”

As a mentor, Matt has inspired a new generation of cellists at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University and is now the first-ever John Cage Fellow at The New School’s Mannes School of Music. He brings fresh perspectives to classic repertoire and creates innovative projects, such as THE PRIMAVERA PROJECT, which features 81 new commissions from various North American communities.
