Event description
The Stained Glass World of Louis Comfort Tiffany, a two part mini-series, is a winner for anyone who loves the decorative arts!

About this Event

This mini series is 2 sessions for a total of $80. It's flexible and convenient: If you miss a session, a replay will be sent automatically and available for a limited time after the session ends.

Part One: Tues, Dec 8th at 2pm - Discover the life story of Louis Comfort Tiffany (LCT) from his wealthy family roots (father Charles was the founder of the iconic Tiffany & Co. jewelry store) to his creative and business endeavors before establishing his stained glass design empire. As a young man, he traveled the world as a painter. He was the first Design Director at his father's company. His claim to fame, however, was the innovations in glassmaking and interior design. We will explore the way he ran Tiffany Studios with his artisans and expert craftspeople: "Tiffany Girls" and men who worked in the glassmaking factory he established in Corona, Queens. Tiffany Studios (see photo below) was known for producing several different types of glass infused with color and textures. Let us take you virtually for many museums that feature collections of his lamps, paintings, mosaics and more.

Part Two: Tues, Dec 15th at 11am - Tiffany's personal life was also full of grandeur, as you will see from our exclusive images of his former Long Island estate, Laurelton Hall. Hear stories about his dealings with the White House and his Sagamore Hill neighbor, Teddy Roosevelt. Then, we go way beyond a typical art history class and takes you on a virtual whirlwind to see where many Tiffany windows, interior designs and more still stand...historic churches, major universities, museums, mansions, and private clubs. Our map to Tiffany sites was compiled after years of special research and uniquely from Artful Circle's experiences. You will be very surprised and delighted as we guide you to some well known spots, as well as unexpected locales.
