Description

Celebrating our 35th anniversary, Able ARTS Work presents our 5th Annual Artbeat for Humanity Gala, "It Takes A Village"

Saturday, April 22nd at the Hotel Maya in sunny Long Beach, California

With our Love Before Learning, Learn for Life philosphy, we present the 5th Annual Ami & Remo Belli Humanitarian Award to President/CEO Joe Lamond and the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation.

Please join us for a festive night of art, music, good food and libations as we honor our village for 35 years of commitment to inclusion for all. Live entertainment featuring American Idol, Devyn Rush!

"We see our village in terms of inclusion and diversity. We see our village as a community that creates opportunities, spaces and interactions for people to thrive and grow. It's Love Before Learning. Learning For Life."

Helen Dolas, CEO/Founder

Funds raised from the gala will go towards Able ARTS Work programs providing meaningful creative arts services for people of all ages with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Founded in 1982, Able ARTS Work's ground breaking arts-based therapeutic curriculum serves adults, adolescents and children with moderate to profound developmental disabilities. With Helen Dolas, founder and CEO, trained as a Music Therapist, we pioneered our “Love Before Learning, Learn for Life ” philosophy, which is grounded in the belief that everyone learns best when they are first loved, accepted and respected. In this warm and encouraging environment, students at Able ARTS learn through structured classes in all of the creative arts: drawing, painting, ceramics, textiles, singing, drumming, theater, poetry, story-telling, radio, film-making and more. Using these disciplines, Able ARTS therapists and educators work with enrolled students to build their life skills: strength, mobility, dexterity, communication and socio-emotional skills. Just as important, our students can participate in and become part of the larger community.
