Event description

Description

The National Geographic Photo Ark is a multiyear effort to raise awareness of and find solutions to some of the most pressing issues affecting wildlife and their habitats. Led by National Geographic photographer Joel Sartore, the project aims to document every species living in the world’s zoos and wildlife sanctuaries, inspire action through education, and help save wildlife by supporting on-the-ground conservation efforts.

This fall, the Brower Center honors Sartore with its annual Art/Act: Award, given to an artist who has dedicated their career to using art for activism. Executive Director Laurie Rich says, “Sartore’s work follows in David Brower’s tradition of utilizing powerful environmental images to inform, engage, and ultimately inspire people to action. We are thrilled to be presenting his impactful imagery in our gallery.”

Please join us for the opening reception for Art/Act: Award - Photo Ark, Joel Sartore. Doors open at 5:30 pm with a dynamic presentation by Sartore in our Goldman Theater at 6 pm - followed by a reception. You won't want to miss it!

Only 4 tickets per person, please. Theater seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. All ticket holders must be checked in by 6pm. We will release any open seats to the waitlist at 6pm.

Our theater is ADA accessible - please contact events@browercenter.org by Thursday, Sept 19 to request accommodation.

Photo Ark is organized and traveled by National Geographic Society.

Art/Act: Award - Photo Ark, Joel Sartore is made possible through the generosity of the City of Berkeley and Frog's Leap Winery.
