Event description

Description

ART WRITING FOR ARTISTS is a collaborative workshop in a supportive and inclusive space; it will guide participants through the basics of great art writing to help you support your work as an artist in Detroit. Through three sessions held over the course of one month, you'll work together to develop skills that will allow you to connect more deeply to your work and the work of others. You’ll then have the opportunity to put those skills to use in creating richer and more compelling artist statements, grant applications, exhibition reviews, curatorial statements, essays, project descriptions, or any other writing that will help your creative career grow.

Led by interdisciplinary writer and Kresge Artist fellow Rachel Harkai and writer, editor, and Essay'd co-founder Matthew Piper, this workshop will take place at Room Project, a space for women and non-binary writers. (Artists of all genders and gender expressions are welcome to sign up for the workshop.) ART WRITING FOR ARTISTS is an initiative of the Essay'd project and is funded by the Fred A. and Barbara M. Erb Foundation.
