Description

Art Trail Guided Hikes

The Thomas Cole Site has teamed up with Catskill Mountain Wild to offer guided paddles on Catskill Creek, one of the stops on the Hudson River School Art Trail. Catskill Mountain Wild is a licensed guide service headed by Catskill native Jeff Vincent. Jeff has thousands of miles of trail experience in the Catskill Mountains and the Hudson Valley, and a passion for sharing his local knowledge with others.

Guided (Canoe) Paddle on Catskill Creek

Difficulty: A straight-forward paddle---no experience necessary---all gear provided by Catskill Mountain Wild.

Visit the view that Thomas Cole painted more than any other. There are at least 12 known paintings of Catskill Creek by Thomas Cole made throughout his artistic career. Today they hang in museums and private collections around the world including at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The group will launch from Catskill Middle School. After a brief canoeing safety lesson and practice paddle, we will head up the Catskill Creek to Art Trail Site #3 near Atelier Restaurant.Bar (formerly Tatiana’s Restaurant). We will float and sketch in this area and enjoy the water. Paddlers will have the chance to swim if they desire. Paddling this stretch of creek is generally easy, but even a light wind can make it more difficult.

Included in the price is FREE admission to the Thomas Cole Site, a Hudson River School Art Trail Guide book, and other goodies!

PADDLERS MUST READ THESE GUIDELINES AND FILL OUT THIS WAIVER TO PARTICIPATE.

**No pets allowed**
