Group Description: It's not uncommon for life to leave individuals feeling a bit lost, unproductive, stressed out, anxious and bummed at times, particularly when life circumstances are changing. Transitions are a part of life; they can be predictable such as a marriage, graduation, or children leaving the home but, they are often unpredictable such as changes in health, an accident, or a loss. When life transitions occur, it's usually time to re-examine our present state of being. Human beings are often either consciously or subconsciously resistant to change. Most of us like some degree of predictability in our lives and a certain amount of fear, stress, and a state of feeling overwhelmed and uncomfortable often comes out of anything that disrupts “business as usual.” When life is in transition, there can often be a sense of loss and a need to let go of one thing which is coming to an end, in order to move forward to a new beginning. The rate in which someone does this is unique to each individual.

During transitions in life, it is not uncommon for people to feel a great deal of emotional upheaval. Feelings of fear, anger, sadness, disorientation, and uncertainty normally crop up as the individual works to accept that one thing is ending before he/she begins to accept their new norm. It is not uncommon for those going through a change in their life to become confused, uncertain, or impatient. Individuals going through a transition may feel resentful, anxious about their new role, and even about the change.

Depression, Anxiety, Stress & Life Transition Art Therapy Group will aid clients in re-examining themselves and offer a place of support and empathy for the variety of stressors and emotions that often pop up when life feels “in flux.” This group will offer clients who are struggling with transitions, as well as generalized depression, anxiety, and stress a place to connect, gain support, be heard and renew their commitment to their role in their life. Despite how difficult the emotions involved in times of transition can feel, this can be one of the greatest times for creativity, innovation and renewal! Please consider joining us, as this group is sure to be supportive in assisting you in transformative life changes!
