Did you know that the Jacobo & Maria Angeles’ workshop helped inspire the Disney Pixar animators in creating the movie COCO?

Join the FREE Art Talk from 2:00-3:30pm as Mercado369 is honored to bring back internationally renowned artisans Jacobo and Maria Angeles. They create colorful wood carved pieces called Tonas y Nahuales, known worldwide as “Alebrijes”, and are one of Oaxaca’s oldest artisanal traditions. Join us in learning all about the culture and traditions behind these beautiful works of art as Jacobo and Maria demonstrate their detailed work here at Mercado369.

Participate in the "Making of" Workshop Series after the art talk from 4:00-5:30pm. Where internationally renowned artisans Jacobo & María Angeles will guide you through painting an "alebrije" to life! Through their vivid alebrije creations and sharing of expertise, Jacobo & María maintain one of Oaxaca, Mexico's oldest artisanal traditions alive. The workshop is a $30 fee/person includes a toolkit containing a wood carved animal figurine, paint and brushes.
