Spin into the sexy 70's with "Art & Soul", a one of a kind event on Thursday July 25th at SPIN at The Standard in Downtown LA. As you enter The Standard Downtown's renowned SPiN social club and lounge, you will be transported back to the chic and sensual atmosphere of a 1970's cocktail party enhanced by vintage videos and a period soundtrack curated by music producer and film composer Mark Governor.
Peruse a prestigious exhibition and silent auction of 20th century masters fine art including works by Picasso, Chagall, Miro and Dali presented by The Andrew Weiss Gallery. Choose from original etchings, wood engravings and lithographs culled from rare editions and important collections while sampling 70's themed appetizers and drink specials.
Thrill to a live dance-musical performance by The Honey Noir Revue, directed and choreographed by Janet Roston of LA Rock Opera Co. Inspired by the Pamela Grier action movies of the 70s, six dancers and singer Bridget Graham perform to a soundtrack provided by the contemporary soul band Honey Noir.
The dance floor will open up for all to show off their Soul Train moves when KCRW DJ Aaron Byrd rounds out the evening, spinning tunes that evoke the soulful spirit and groove of the time. Throughout the event, guests will be able to perfect their ping-pong diplomacy playing table tennis in a reserved section of the lounge at special discounted rates, and they can keep the party going all night with special access to The Standard's legendary rooftop bar.
Twenty percent of all sales in the art exhibition and silent auction will benefit Los Angeles Rock Opera Company.
