Event Information
Description
ART SAN DIEGO 2012
Returning with the 4th Edition of the Fair September 6–9, 2012. Last year’s fair received record attendance with over 8,000 collectors, curators, museum directors and art enthusiasts. Strong sales were reported by galleries and the event received extraordinary media attention, and has become one of the largest attended cultural events in San Diego.
The theme of ART SAN DIEGO 2012 is “New Art City” suggesting a new way of expressing the Art Fair. Re-location to Balboa Park gives us the opportunity to develop an urban compound both inside the venue and throughout the grounds of Balboa Park.
Four Districts will be dedicated to different disciplines: Contemporary Art, Contemporary Furniture, Mid-Century/Modern, Photography. Each with its own character and social center allowing interaction with artists and dealers, experiencing Art in Motion.
The stage for ASD’s New Art City is Balboa Park, a 1,200-acre cultural and recreational oasis in the heart of San Diego — the largest such urban park in America. Balboa Park features a wide variety of museums, exhibitions, performing arts, world-famous gardens, recreational facilities, restaurants, and other attractions that serve over 12 million visitors annually. With New Art City, ART SAN DIEGO 2012 aims to insert itself as a key actor in this production, nurturing and strengthening San Diego’s art scene with a dynamic agenda.
