From the most passionate and expressive sonatas, to dazzlingly virtuosic showpieces, to intimate and lyrical salon pieces written for simple pleasure – "The Art of the Recital" concert series presents a wide range of experiences to audiences, all celebrating the wide artistic potential of the violin.
This special program begins with three of the stalwart masterpieces of the recital repertoire -
Prokofiev Five Melodies
Mozart Sonata in A Major, K 526
Bach Solo Sonata No 1 in g minor
Joshua is especially happy to share a second half of encores and delightful salon pieces by -
Kreisler, Strauss, Dvorak, Schubert, and Brahms
The violin recital can be profound and serious, but it can also be joyful, lighthearted, and spirited! In Joshua's own words:
"Some of the most moving pieces written for the violin are quite simple. Schubert's Ave Maria, Dvorak's beloved Humoresque, and many others - these pieces are close to the heart, deeply emotional, and simple in a very special way. Keeping with the theme of 'The Art of the Recital' series, it will be a great joy to perform a favorite collection of these encores and salon pieces in live recitals this season."
This recital program also includes one of Mozart's later sonatas - a powerful, almost romantic work, that Joshua first performed in Vienna, Austria, at the Palais of Palffy.
Violinist Joshua Peckins and pianist Eliko Akahori perform these masterpieces live, in intimate recital venues throughout greater Boston. For other dates/venues, please visit: https://joshuapeckins.com/projects/recitals/
