About this Event

Monuments are how we remember our history, for better or worse. With the surge of uprisings against police brutality and the national reckoning with America’s history of white supremacy, many monuments in our communities are being taken or torn down. How does the decision to erect or remove a monument impact a community. As we re-evaluate existing monuments and new memorials, what criteria should be used to decide what deserves remembering and what is the role of artists in this process?

Presented by The Mural Arts Institute.

The Mural Arts Institute is supported by The JPB Foundation, The Kresge Foundation, and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
