Event description

Description

Center for Art Law invites you to our 5th Annual Art Law Mixer at the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (NY). Last year we focused on the hot topics in art law. This summer, it will be all about fakes and forgeries – with an added bonus for attorneys (a.k.a. CLE credits).*

From recent cases to (still) pending legislation and a new Court of Arbitration, our panel will tackle the legal issues around authentication, including pitfalls of creating catalogue raisonnés, legal exposure and protection for authenticators and opinions, artificial intelligence, and more. Join us for a wine and cheese reception, panel discussion, Q&A.

Speakers:

  • Cynthia Gayton, Transactional attorney, Gayton Law (DC)

  • Dr. Sharon Hecker, Art historian, curator, and author (Italy)

  • Dean Nicyper, Litigator and partner, Withers Worldwide (NY)

Moderator:

  • Louise Carron, Executive Director, Center for Art Law (NY)

*This continuing legal education course is intended for Experienced Attorneys and Newly Admitted Attorneys and has been approved for up to 2.0 New York CLE credit hours and 2.0 California MCLE credit hours.

Agenda:

  • 6:00pm – 6:10pm: introductions

  • 6:10pm – 7:10pm: panel discussion

  • 7:10pm – 8:00pm: Q&A session
