Description

Join Erin Douglas, the photographer behind the Black at Burning Man project for a day photo exhibit followed by an evening artist talk.

12:00pm-7:00pm | Exhibition: The first show of the year for Erin Douglas, where she will showcase images from her current photography project- Black at Burning Man: stories from the dust, and portraits of people of color at Burning Man. Douglas’ curiosity behind the lack of diversity at burning man and mission to inspire more people of color to travel lead Erin to take her project beyond social pages.

7:00pm-9:00pm | Evening Artist Talk: Meet Erin Douglas, the photographer, over light bites and drinks. This time will be spent hearing about her journey as a photographer, her burning Man experience and the idea, development and significance behind her current project, Black at Burning Man. Joining Erin Douglas will be moderator and fellow burner, Jesse Walker for the discussion. Erin will also take time to answer questions from the audience.

TICKET COST: FREE

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Erin Douglas is a travel and lifestyle documentary photographer. After discovering her love for traveling on a solo trip to the Philippines, she has placed travel at the center of her photography practice. She strives to capture the essence of life around her and share genuine and authentic stories. Her work has been featured in photography exhibitions, the NY Times listed book “Shut Up and Run”, Travel Noire, Essence, Black Enterprise and the Baltimore Sun. Currently, Erin continues to work on her ongoing project which focuses on images and stories of diversity at Burning Man, stemming from her desire to compel more people of diverse backgrounds to see the importance of travel when it comes to travel. In sharing the personal interviews of her subjects along side the images, Erin hopes the stories will evoke a deeper connection to the photography, to inspire and stimulate the audience's’ desire to learn more (about Burning Man, the stories, and travel).
