Event description

Description

For our second workshop in this series, Graham Brown (Founder of United State of Indiana) and Emily Kennerk (Founder of Bitchstix) will share their personal journeys in art and entrepreneurship.

Ideas are paramount for both artists and entrepreneurs. We obsess, strategize, problem solve, create, and recreate in order to bring our ideas to fruition. The outcome for both artists and entrepreneurs may differ and exist in different arenas, but the principles are the same. This guided workshop will explore the crossover and co-mingling of aptitudes, skills, habits, and realities of the artist and entrepreneur.

Graham and Emily will bring a lively and fresh perspective on today’s entrepreneur. The session is suited for the start-up, the individual thinking about being an entrepreneur, the artist, and the seasoned business owner. Attendees can expect to explore and identify their personal entrepreneurial archaeology and what it takes to overcome reservations and take their next step.

ABOUT THE ART + ENTREPRENEURSHIP WORKSHOP SERIES
The Speak Easy, Big Car Collaborative, and Central Indiana Community Foundation want to create opportunities for collaboration between art and entrepreneurs. To do so, we are blending the ways artists and entrepreneurs create through this innovative workshop series.

ABOUT GRAHAM:
Graham Brown is the creator of a small Indy-based clothing brand, United State of Indiana. His choices as a business owner and designer are more influenced by personal passions—from community activism to music to pro wrestling—than by professional pursuits. He sees that as his biggest advantage as an entrepreneur. Graham is still worried about getting his first real job.

ABOUT EMILY:
Emily Kennerk is a seasoned artist, seasoned as in having a tremendous amount of experience in rejection, failed projects, and unintended wins. Ironically in her latest pursuit, she is beginning to understand that the parallels of the artist and entrepreneur are undeniable. Kennerk is the founder of BITCHSTIX, a social enterprise cosmetic brand located in Indianapolis.
