Event description
42 Lisboa invites you to enter into conversation with artists whose groundbreaking works intersect code and technology.

About this event

Artists will share stories about their practice, inspirations, tools and work in progress ~ inviting you to reflect on your own experience working with code & digital environments. The event will take place in the 42 Lisboa campus lobby, in a friendly and informal setup with snacks and drinks, allowing for conversations and inspiration.

42 Lisboa is a coding school, recognized as one of the best in the world, with an innovative and disruptive educational model. The school is based on a peer-to-peer, project-based, gamified learning system - and it is 100% free. We are proud and excited to host this event, as we believe that students greatly benefit from exposure to such uniquely motivated programmers and code.

Our guests:

Rudolfo Quintas

Rudolfo Quintas is a portuguese media artist. He creates interactive, generative and data mapping audiovisual works which invariably take the form of performances, installations, or sculptures.

These digital media environments form a subtle balance between control and randomness, defined by Verónica Metello as ‘sensitive contexts’. Such contexts establish a continuous dialogue between the digital and non-digital. They are a window opened to the world, where the artist unveils new perspectives to reflect upon human behaviours.

CADA

CADA is an art group that makes software for exhibitions and the public realm.

Formed in Lisbon in 2007 by Sofia Oliveira and Jared Hawkey, the group’s work is intentionally playful, designed to activate experiences that are both personal and question our relationship with technology in everyday life. It also organises events and workshops to extend participation in digital cultural practice. CADA has exhibited across Europe and in Brazil.

Robert Allison

Robert Allison is a technological artist from London, now living in Lisbon and resident at MILL (Makers in Little Lisbon). His studies in Engineering and Architecture, reflect the pursuit of technology and art as a combined discipline.

Hi work focuses on the generative, using computation to create unique experiences. It demonstrates how richness and complexity can emerge from simple processes iterated to a massive scale, and explores the potential of the purely computational, the mechanistic, as this approaches the boundary with the natural, the tactile, the 'real'.
