Art & Business

The George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural & Genealogy Center hosts a three-part series.

The series of panel discussions is organized by Capitol View Arts; the George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural & Genealogy Center; the Greater Austin Black Chamber; and Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts.

The panel sessions will take place in the Carver Museum Lobby at 6:30 p.m. on three Thursdays in October; the 4th, 11th, and 25th.


This session: Black Women Artists Speak Out (Session 2), 25 October 2018

Established female artists presented in exhibitions at the Carver during 2017 and 2018 examine the statuses, roles, and symbolic meanings attached to representations of black womanhood in their paintings and sculptures.

Artists as Business Operators, 11 October 2018

Presented as part of the Greater Austin Black Chamber's Third Annual Business Strategy Week.

Everyone's welcome for this practical session. Visual artists must also function as businesswomen (and businessmen too). Representatives from Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts (TALA) will provide basic tips to successfully operate your artistic practice as a business.
