Event description

Description

You are cordially invited to the Private View to be held on Friday 1st September 6.30 - 9.30pm

With its “Botanical” theme, our third exhibition at Llangathen Village Hall will take us on a journey through the joys of the Welsh garden, with our artists and makers showing works celebrating the flora and fauna that we all love and enjoy.

We have two beautiful major gardens nearby - The National Botanical Gardens of Wales and the Lost Gardens of Aberglasney, and these have been the inspiration for the exhibition, which is to be curated with the garden lover in mind.

Our 40 artists and makers will include familiar friends who have shown at our previous exhibitions and new friends showing with us for the first time. Works on display will include floral paintings, prints, photographs, pottery vases for a wild flower bouquets, sculptures for the home and for the garden, willow woven into harvest time baskets and furniture made with the garden or conservatory in mind. Welsh weather permitting, sculptures and garden furniture will be shown in the Hall’s outside spaces.

The private view evening will be sponsored by Da Mhille - an award-winning farmhouse distillery in West Wales, - and we will be serving their Botanical Gin tasters at the event. We will also have local honey produced by Ystrad Organics that will be freshly harvested just days before the show and packaged with a limited edition ‘Honey at the Hall’ label.

The Hall is still very much in the processes of renovation and there will be various opportunities to help us raise funds during the week. As well as a raffle of artworks by our exhibitors (a roaring success at our Easter show) we will be setting a competition for budding artists, young and old, to enter. The prize will be the opportunity to have your piece of worked framed by a professional framer and exhibited in the winter show of 25th November - 3rd December. Entry forms can be found on our our Facebook page or picked up at the exhibition. Entry fee for Competition will be £5, all funds raised will be donated to the Hall for ongoing renovation works.

Entrance to the Private View and Exhibition is free but if you would like to make a donation, any funds raised will go towards the restoration of the Hall.
