About A.R.M.S. Founders Lonnie Davis & Tracy Vogt:
LONNIE DAVIS| was introduced to the world of dance by the renowned director/choreographer, Baba Chuck Davis and the African American Dance Ensemble‐NC. After being granted a scholarship to the American Dance Festival at Duke University, Lonnie was immersed “head first” at age 18 into his professional dance training. His summer months were spent training at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, ADF and Jacobs Pillow. Soon after, he joined Dayton Contemporary Dance Co. II‐OH. There he studied under some of the most noted teachers/choreographers in the African American Traditions of American Modern Dance. (James Truitte, Donald McKayle, Kevin Ward, Jeraldyne Blunden, Bernard Johnson) After that incredible experience, Lonnie was invited to join Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago. While in Chicago, he honed his jazz dance technique by learning different jazz styles.
Mr. Davis has taught and choreographed at dance studios and institutions all over the country. Some include: Master Teacher for Project Dance NYC/ATL 2010; Ruth Mitchell Dance Theatre, Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education; Georgia Dance Conservatory, AREA, Woodstock Ballet‐GA, Dalton Ballet‐GA, Gainesville Ballet‐GA, Morton Street Dance Studio‐MD, Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts, Woodward Academy and The Ohio University School of Dance. Mr. Davis was also selected to join the faculty of Georgia's ’09‐‘10 Governors Honors Program. There he had the pleasure of setting works and teaching Georgia's most talented high school dance students. Currently Lonnie is on faculty at Cobb County Centre for Excellence in the Performing Arts, Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education and The Atlanta Girls School.
TRACY VOGT | Originally from Erie, Pennsylvania, Tracy began her training at the Lake Erie Ballet, Erie Bayfront Ballet and the High School of Performing and Visual arts, under the direction of Ms. Renee Vicary. She received scholarships and attended Point Park Summer Dance, PA Governor's School for the Arts, Jacob's Pillow Modern Intensive, the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA as well as the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center in New York, where she was asked personally to demonstrate Graham technique for School Director, Denise Jefferson.
Ms. Vogt's accomplishments include receiving the Philadelphia Rocky Award for Dance Excellence while working as Principal Dancer, Master Class Instructor and Assistant Rehearsal Director for the world renowned Philadelphia Dance Company (PHILADANCO), of which she was a member for twelve years. In addition, she was the Rehearsal Director and principal dancer with Wylliams Henry Contemporary Dance Company in Kansas City, Missouri, the Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theater, Rebecca Davis Dance Company in Philadelphia, PA, and Verb Ballets in Cleveland, Ohio under the direction of Hernando Cortez.
Ms. Vogt now resides in Atlanta, GA, where she was Dance Director of North Atlanta High School for the 2008/2009 school year. She is currently on faculty at AREA, Atlanta Ballet, Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance,Roswell Dance Theater and the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts. Ms. Vogt’s choreography was selected and performed at Danco on Danco Series 20079, SERBA festival in 2011, Atlanta Dance Connection and Dance Canvas 2012 & 2013.
