Our scheduled speaker, Larry Weis, GM of Austin Energy, unfortunately will be tied up with the City Council this Thursday in an unforeseen meeting. We’ll get him back on our calendar later this year. In the meantime, we are lucky to host Kent Firestone VP of Additive Manufacturing for Solid Concepts. Kent has had a distinguished career developing and refining the process of Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) for additive manufacturing applications. He has worked in the additive manufacturing industry since 1990 having held management positions at DTM Corporation, 3D Systems, and Solid Concepts. Many of the features and capabilities in today’s commercial SLS platforms are a direct result of his work. He will address 3D manufacturing, the past, present, and future.
Also, included in the program will be a brief announcement from Roger Wood with Freescale. He is the Chair of CCARE, the Coalition for Clean, Affordable, Reliable Energy. He will discuss pending legislation in the Texas Legislature, specifically SB 1945 and how it might benefit manufacturers.
