Event description

Description

APHA’s 70th annual meeting will be held May 9 –11, 2018 at the Crowne Plaza in Little Rock, Arkansas. The theme of this year’s meeting is Pathways to Health Equity: A Glance at the Social Determinants of Health, Health Policy, and Advocacy. The objectives of the annual meeting are:

  1. Provide practical skills and comprehensive information for public health professionals from across the state.

  2. Stimulate the exchange of innovative programs and partnerships with hospitals/clinics, schools, businesses, worksites and communities to create a healthy future for those at risk

  3. Enhance multidisciplinary interaction and team development among public health professionals.

  4. Provide innovative approaches/considerations for minority and medically underserved populations.

The meeting offers attendees the opportunity to learn from the latest research and practice, conduct hands-on assessments on the latest tools and service, network with industry experts and colleagues, and expand their professional horizons. Attendees will be able to choose from multiple education sessions, enabling them to customize their schedule to best fit their public health interest.

APHA has partnered with the Arkansas Chronic Disease Coordinating Council for day three of the meeting. The 2018 Chronic Disease Forum: The Science and Recommendations for Nutrition Interventions will provide attendees with the latest on national nutrition recommendations, whole food plant-based lifestyles, local nutrition interventions, and the myths on fad diets. This partnership will afford meeting attendees the opportunity to network and share information with the leading chronic disease practitioners and engage in the latest research on chronic disease in Arkansas.
