Arizona Trail Trek- Mount Peeley Trailhead to LF Ranch, Multinight

Join Sirena as she continues her 800 mile Arizona Trail Trek from Mexico to Utah on the Arizona National Scenic Trail!
The Mazatzal Wilderness is the largest wilderness area on the Arizona Trail, and is dominated by fantastic vews of the Mazatzal Peaks. The trail starts on the slopes of Mount Peeley and traverses the Mazatzal Mountains before descending to the East Verde River and the LF Ranch.
Strenuous- 40.3 miles, with 7000 feet of total elevation gain.
Please come prepared with with everything that you will need to backpack this passage. You must provide your own equipment and food.
- Four liters of water plus extra carrying capacity
- Snacks for the day.
- Headlamp/ Flashlight
- Comfortable hiking attire.
- Water purification.
- Sleeping bag, Sleeping pad, and a tent or tarp.
- Warm clothes for the night.
- A camping stove, or dinner that does not need to be cooked, such as a sandwich.
- A very positive attitude!
On the day of this hike, a shuttle will be available at the Doll Baby trailhead. It will depart from the Doll Baby trailhead for the hike's starting point (Mount Peeley trailhead) promptly at 7:00 AM.
Directions to Starting Point (Mt. Peeley trailhead): 4.8 miles north of Sunflower, Arizona on Hwy 87 turn west at mile post 222.8 onto FR627, across the road from the Mt. Ord turnoff. Follow FR 627 1.2 miles, then turn right onto FR 201. Drive 9.3 miles to the Mt. Peeley trailhead, signed "Cornucopia Trail Trail 86." Follow the Cornucopia trail .5 miles to the Arizona Trail.
Directions to Ending Point (LF ranch via Doll Baby trailhead): Take Main st. west from AZ 87 in the town of Payson, two miles. Main st. soon becomes Country Club drive, and then changes its name again to Doll Baby Ranch road and LF Ranch road. Continue on this road. After six miles, the road changes to FR 406. Drive three more miles before arriving at a locked gate that marks the Doll Baby trailhead. LF Ranch is an additional 4-mile hike along the Doll Baby trail.
Donations are greatly appreciated and will go toward Sirena's campaign to raise $20,000 for the Arizona Trail Association to maintain, promote and protect the Arizona National Scenic Trail.
