The Volleyball Coaches Training is open to anyone interested (no experience necessary) in becoming certified coach for Special Olympics. This training course focuses on the basic skills and strategies of the sport, fundamental skills development for the athletes, as well as, competition and game understanding. This course includes a classroom session and an activity session performing the skills with the trainer and clinician.
This training will be held as part of a team practice. Attendees will get the chance to see how the coaches set up and run a typical practice. All new SOTX coaches must complete the "New Coach SIG training" online in addition to the steps listed below. The mission of Special Olympics Texas is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
