Event description

Description

"What were you making in your last position?" An innocent and necessary question for hiring managers and HR executives to ask – at least it used to be.

As of January 1st, California became the 8th state to prohibit employers and their agents (translation: recruiters) from asking prospective candidates about their salary and benefit history. Additionally, companies are now required to publicly provide salary ranges for every position they are looking to fill. While the purpose of the new law – narrowing the gender pay gap – is admirable, the application of this new regulation will be tricky. This law applies to every company, in every industry across CA, regardless of the number of employees.

Learn how to navigate these murky waters from three distinguished professionals living and breathing the changes every day.

Panelists:
Brandon Willenberg, Attorney, BTW Law Group
Bill Murphy, Principal, Director Employee Benefits Sales, MMA West (formerly Barney & Barney)
Paula Cleveland, Manager, Talent Acquisition Operations and University Relations, Mitchell International
Ken Schmitt, CEO & Founder, TurningPoint Executive Search - Moderator
