Event description

Description

Education has profound implications for shaping our future. As pedagogies transform to keep pace with rapid changes and prepare our children to thrive in uncertain times, there’s a trend towards project-based, personalized learning. However, these curricular changes can result in a disconnect between the instructional model and the built environment.

Working from SF Design Week’s theme “Start Here” how can we leverage design and technology to help our learning spaces better serve our students and teachers? This panel presented by Gould Evans, Taylor Design, and AltSchool brings together perspectives from architecture, public and private education, curriculum design, and technology providers supporting personalized learning and teacher professional development to discuss ideas for future-proofing educational environments of all scales.

Speakers

  • David Reid, Principal and Education Practice Leader, Gould Evans; Co-Founder, STEAM Studio
  • Michael Lee, Director of Business and Real Estate, AltSchool
  • Cheryl Jordan, Superintendent, Milpitas Unified School District
  • Ben Sanders, Executive Director, Reach Institute for School Leadership
  • Mani Farhadi, Project Director / Senior Education Planner, Taylor Design (moderator)

The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A and an informal reception, with a chance to experience a 21st-century educational demonstration space within the Gould Evans studio.
