Session Descriptions

Adult, Child & Infant CPR (2 clock hours)

Description: Topics covered include adult CPR, adult foreign body airway obstruction, child CPR, child foreign body airway obstruction, infant CPR, infant foreign body airway obstruction, rescue breathing, personal safety, and emergency response. All participants will practice and become proficient in hands on training with a manikin. Certification cards are valid for 2 years.

Presenting Organization: Accredited CPR Services

Basic Adult & Pediatric First Aid (2 clock hours)

Description: Topics covered include personal safety, emergency response and assessment, bleeding control, caring for shock, heart attacks and strokes, burn care, strains and sprains, dislocations and fractures, head and neck injuries, sudden illnesses, asthma, diabetes, seizures, severe allergic reactions, poisoning, heat and cold related emergencies, abdominal injuries, chest injuries, and minor injuries. Certification cards are valid for 2 years.

Presenting Organization: Accredited CPR Services

Child Abuse & Neglect, SIDS, Safe Sleep, & Shaken Baby Syndrome (2 clock hours)

Description: Topics covered include Child Abuse & Neglect, Shaken Baby Syndrome, & Safe Sleep.  Participants will learn how to recognize the warning signs of Child Abuse & Neglect and techniques they can use to help keep babies safe while in their care.

Presenting Organization: St. Louis Department of Health

Emergency Preparedness for Child Care Programs (2 clock hours)

Description: Child Care programs will review the Missouri “Ready in 3” plan. Programs will discuss potential emergency situations and how to respond. Providers will have the opportunity to develop a beginning Emergency Preparedness plan they can use at the child care programs. Ready in 3 and American Red Cross Resources will be given to providers to assist in their planning process.
